‘Heart of gold’: Family mourn teen car crash victim

A 15-year-old kid who kicked the bucket in a pile up while driving in Melbourne's west has been recognized as a "cherishing and minding companion", while two travelers stay in a basic condition.

Police said Luke Lee from Newport was driving along Oldfield Street in Sunshine West when he struck a tree around 10:00pm on Monday.

Four other individuals were in the auto, including a 13-year-old Sunbury young lady and a 15-year-old Doreen young lady who were taken to The Alfred doctor's facility with head wounds in a basic condition.

A 17-year-old kid and a 16-year-old kid, both from Sunshine West, were likewise genuinely harmed.

Three of the travelers caught in the auto must be liberated by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade.

On Tuesday, family and companions assembled at the scene of the crash, leaving ardent messages, blooms and photos.

Companion Tyler Gee portrayed Luke Lee as a "cherishing and minding kid".

"He generally put everybody before he put himself. He showed some kindness of gold," he said.

"He's gone yet not overlooked."

Another companion said he was "interesting, he was continually minding, inquiring as to whether everybody was alright".

'Driving is not a diversion', police caution

Aide Police Commissioner Doug Fryer asked guardians to address their youngsters about dangers out and about.

"It could have been five individuals dead the previous evening. We've had one young man kick the bucket … so let that be a message to those out there tuning in," he said.

"Driving is not an amusement, you should be authorized, you should be capable.

"Guardians, have the discussion with your children around street security."

Witness Daniel Hollingworth said the scene was "entirely confused".

"The two females in the back, they were quickly attempting to get out," he said.

"It was very upsetting, a considerable measure of shouting."

One of the young men was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a genuine condition with leg cracks and conceivable spinal wounds.

The other kid was hospitalized with leg cracks and was in a steady condition.

Police said no different autos were included in the mishap.

The auto included had not been recorded as stolen but rather was unregistered, police said.
