Culpeper man accused of paying runaway teen girl for sex

A Culpeper man has been accused of grabbing a runaway 14-year-old Stafford County young lady a month ago and paying her for sex, police said.

Handling Smith Daniel, 52, is accused of two numbers of fornication, two tallies of utilizing an electronic gadget to request a minor and two checks of requesting a minor for prostitution. He is being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

As indicated by Stafford Sheriff's first Lt. Eric Quinn, police got a cover Aug. 24 that the adolescent young lady had fled from her grandma's home in Stafford. Investigator Joe Massine's examination uncovered that the young lady had been discussing on the web with more established men.

Massine found the young lady on Aug. 31 at a companion's home. He then discovered that the young lady had already gotten together with a man she met on the web.

Police said the man had lifted the young lady up close to her home and drove her to a close-by motel, where he engaged in sexual relations with the adolescent that he paid her for. The man got together with the young lady about seven days after the fact and again occupied with sexual action, police said.

Daniel was captured Friday, that day police assaulted his home at 1123 South Blue Ridge Avenue in Culpeper for proof. Culpeper Town Police and Virginia State Police helped with the executions of court orders, Quinn said.

Court records list the offense dates as Aug. 11 and Aug. 19. Quinn said the examination is progressing.
