Texas policeman and wanted man shot by fellow officer trying to subdue suspect

WEATHERFORD, Texas – A Weatherford cop got back to up a kindred officer fighting with a man needed on a remarkable warrant Thursday night injured both when he shot his gun trying to repress the criminal suspect.

The injured officer, Chris Bumpass, and the unidentified suspect were taken to a zone doctor's facility for treatment of discharge wounds. They were accounted for in alright condition by the Weatherford Police Department.

The officer who discharged the shots was not quickly distinguished. He was set on managerial leave, a standard system for police required in shootings.

Weatherford police said the coincidental shooting of the officer happened around 9:15 p.m., focal time, outside the Tequilla Bar Y Grill on Tin Top Road when officer Bumpass make a standard movement stop of an auto and found that one of three tenants had a remarkable capture warrant.

Police said Bumpass called for reinforcement help, and when the officers attempted to capture the speculate he got to be "confrontational and started to ambush" Bumpass, hitting him with an electric lamp.

The reinforcement officer attempted to quell the suspect with his immobilizer yet that had no impact, the police said. He then discharged his administration pistol, coincidentally striking officer Bumpass furthermore injuring the suspect, the police said.

Police said the speculate faces a charge of exasperated strike on a cop. The Texas Rangers will examine the case.

Officer Bumpass has served on the Weatherford Police Department for one year. He was granted "Tenderfoot of the Year" respects as of late.
