Samson's Take: Dr. Otabil, tell me which politician or party isn't guilty of this offence?

I cherish, in the same way as other Ghanaians, Dr. Mensah Otabil. No, I don't simply make the most of his lessons, I learn and feel better enabled every time I listen to the shrewdness God has invested him. I have never couldn't help contradicting him. In any case, today I need to differ with the bit of his late proclamation of truth. He yearnings and notes that a key part of what Ghana requires to lift itself from being a perpetual underachiever, with little disapproved of subsistence speculation nationals not able to develop organizations like Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, is for legislators to guarantee a rational situation by lawful direction. The nonappearance or absence of laws to direct life isn't our issue. What range of life have we not, at any rate obtained the excellent laws of rational England to control? Sir, we even have a law on the most proficient method to manage mosquitoes. Our paid enormous men and ladies are presently bustling lousily squandering our cash designing out a law to urge us to do collective tidy up activities when all that must be done is to just uphold our laws that rebuff littering by up to 3,000.00 Cedis or three years in prison.

We should discuss the race crusade blessings and gifts, or obtusely put, those vote-purchasing rewards of money, packs of rice, material sheets, sustenance and beverages. I hear lawmakers gladly declare their obliviousness or fake same that there is nothing amiss with such acts. Let me know which lawmaker or gathering isn't blameworthy of these laws, or any memory of captures and indictments for their rupture. I duplicate just three segments of the Representation of the People Law, 1992 so you don't blame me for translating them to suit my motivation:

Segment 33—Bribery.

(1) A man submits the offense of renumeration—

(an) in the event that he straightforwardly or acting through someone else—

(i) gives cash or gets an office for a voter keeping in mind the end goal to initiate the voter to vote or shun voting; or

(ii) corruptly does such a follow up by virtue of a voter having voted or avoided voting; or

(iii) makes a blessing or gives something of significant worth to a voter to actuate the voter to vote absolutely or to get the race of an applicant; or

(b) in the event that he progresses or pays cash or makes cash to be paid or for the utilization of a man with the purpose that the cash or piece of it should be used in pay off at a race, or intentionally pays cash or makes cash be paid to a man in release or reimbursement of cash completely or to a limited extent used in renumeration at a race; or

(c) if before or amid a decision he specifically or in a roundabout way, independent from anyone else or through someone else following up for his benefit, gets, concurs or contracts for cash, blessing, an advance or significant thought or an office, place or work for himself or for someone else for voting or consenting to vote or for abstaining or consenting to avoid voting; or

(d) if after a race he straightforwardly or through someone else gets cash or important thought because of a man having voted or ceased from voting or having prompted someone else to vote or to avoid voting.

(2) For the motivation behind subsection (1)—

(a) references to giving cash incorporate giving, loaning, consenting to give or loan, offering, promising and promising to secure or to attempt to acquire cash or profitable thought; and

(b) references to securing office incorporate giving, acquiring, consenting to give or get, offering, promising and promising to obtain or to attempt to get an office, place or business.

Segment 34—Treating.

A man submits the offense of treating—

(an) in the event that he corruptly either himself or through someone else, some time recently, amid or after a decision gives or gives or pays completely or to some degree the costs of giving or giving meat, drink, amusement or arrangement to or for any individual—

(i) with the end goal of corruptly affecting that individual or someone else to vote or avoid voting; or

(ii) because of that individual or someone else having voted or avoided voting or being going to vote or cease from voting; or

(b) in the event that he corruptly acknowledges or takes any meat, drink, diversion or arrangement offered in the conditions and for the reasons said in passage (an) of this area.

Area 35—Undue Influence.

A man confers the offense of undue impact—

(an) on the off chance that he specifically or in a roundabout way or through someone else following up for his benefit—

(i) makes utilization of or debilitates to make utilization of compel, viciousness or limitation; or

(ii) perpetrates or undermines to deliver on someone else a worldly or profound damage, harm, mischief or misfortune,

keeping in mind the end goal to instigate or propel that individual to vote or abstain from voting, or because of that individual having voted or shunned voting; or

(b) if by snatching, coercion or any deceitful technique he obstructs or keeps the free practice of the establishment of a voter.

Any of these offenses is deserving of up to 6,000.00 Cedis or two years in prison, or both, in addition to five years exclusion as a voter.

Let me know we won't have a rational political crusading if these laws were implemented against the very individuals who made them.
