FGCU women's basketball notes: Skill work still first; Smesko's vote

Indeed, even with his program the victors of six back to back Atlantic Sun Conference standard season titles, FGCU ladies' b-ball mentor Karl Smesko thought of it as not a slight, but instead something much the same as regard, that his graduation-exhausted squad was voted second in the preseason mentors' survey.

"It was astonishing to be picked second when you just make them return starter and you lose as a great part of the scoring, bouncing back, helps, pieces (and) takes that we lost," Smesko said. "I think it was a significant compliment that the mentors picked us second."

The flights of six seniors from the turn, including four starters, didn't obviously prevent Smesko from picking his group for first. He was one of two mentors to pick FGCU first in the eight-group association.

FGCU likewise got three second-put votes and three third-put votes to sit behind guarding ASUN competition champion Jacksonville in the late survey.

The ASUN does not disclose individual mentors' votes but rather releases add up to votes in every place.
