BLOOMINGTON — Placekicker Griffin Oakes is get ready for various conditions this week when Indiana goes to Northwestern.
Eleven of Indiana's 12 consistent season amusements are played on a fake surface. Saturday's amusement will be the one and only on grass.
"He's been on the grass kicking for a few weeks getting prepared for it,'' Indiana mentor Kevin Wilson said. "Now and then you can make that a tad bit to a greater degree a mental case than you should be. Be he turned out great. He has a decent look, looks somewhat more like himself. We'll check whether we can prop him up.''
Oakes battled early this season however has been exceptional the most recent couple of weeks. The ruling Big Ten kicker of the year has made 8 of 12 field objective endeavors this season.
Wilson said Saturday that Oakes has been managing a pulled quad muscle and that has been a major motivation behind why IU hasn't gone for long field objectives in late recreations. Saturday, Wilson passed on endeavors from 49 and 53. Oakes associated from 45 and 39.
"We were near being in range two or three times,'' Wilson said. "There's no certification we would've made the kick. In any case, he truly left the amusement I think feeling better.''
Vote of certainty
Wilson said he stays satisfied with the play of quarterback Richard Lagow. He said a considerable measure of Lagow's issues to date have not been his blame.

The amusement will be broadcast on ESPNU, denoting the fifth diversion that IU has played this season on the ESPN group of systems.
A year ago, Indiana beat Maryland 47-28 in College Park, Md., in the second-to-last session of the normal season.
