Experiencing childhood in the shadows of Rod Laver Arena there was one and only game Timmy Karpinski was bound to play.

The Southbank young person has been a hit on the tennis circuit and has finetuned his ability on the court at national and universal institutes.

In October he went up against the world's best junior players at the Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup ITF Junior Circuit and the Melaka ITF Junior Championship.

At Sarawak he made the second round of the qualifying draw and at Melaka he lost his third match in the fundamental draw.

Timmy, who is positioned fifth in Victoria for the 2001 birth year and eleventh across the country, said he gave the "competitions his everything".

It is this aggressive nature that saw him understand his objective of making Tennis Australia's National Academy Development Squad program and in addition preparing at the Bollettieri Tennis Program in Florida and the Guillermo Vilas Tennis Academy in Spain.

The all-court player won the duplicates with Emil Thaning at the under 16 2016 Victorian Junior State Clay Court Championships and was a singles finalist at the 2016 Townsville Open Age competition and copies finalist at the 2015 Boroondara Vic Metro AMT Series.

Timmy, 15, was a semi-finalist in the pairs at the 2015 Tennis World Junior Hardcourt Championships.

It was at only four years old that Timmy grabbed a racquet, much to the irritation of his neighbors.

"I was continually hitting the ball too hard and the ball would constantly fly over the fence," he said.

Living so near Melbourne Park he said he went to the Australian Open each year.

He said his fantasy was to play at the amazing hammer and speak to Australia in the Davis Cup.
