Greenon Bids Farewell to Teacher and Friend

Greenon Local understudies, personnel and staff lost a companion, coach and all around great educator this previous week when Jeffrey Whitt passed away at 55 years old.

Before coming to Greenon Local, he showed American history at Schaffer Middle School for a long time. He resigned in 2015 in the wake of serving the understudies at Indian Valley for a long time. He was a mentor for the track and football groups at Schaffer and Greenon Local. Amid his time in Springfield City, he utilized his abilities as an ace in focused chess to mentor the South High School group to a State Championship.

Understudies at Indian Valley have magnificent recollections of their excursions to the country's capital with Whitt as their guide. This custom has existed inside the area for eighth graders for quite a long time. He was an individual from SAR and got the DAR Teacher of the Year grant at the neighborhood and state level.

Jeff was hitched for a long time and deserts his significant other Karen. Understudies and staff lined the road outside of Greenon High School on Thursday to say goodbye to their cherished instructor as his processional drove by for one last farewell before moving to his resting place at Enon Cemetary.

Tom Jenkins as of late shared a post on the Greenon Facebook page discussing his tutor and we needed to impart that to the group with the goal that they could better comprehend the association that instructors make in the work environment and how it impacts past the classroom and taking after the educational modules.

"A week ago, we began to plan for our yearly eighth grade trek to Washington, D.C., Jeff's most loved week of the year. It was dependably both of us with 44 understudies on a transport going by astounding urban communities along our country's east drift. En route there were history lessons, clever caps, inside jokes, and karaoke challenges. Making arrangements for the current year's excursion brought back numerous brilliant recollections. That is the point at which it truly hit me. Educating is an astonishing calling. It's brimming with brilliant individuals who lift each other up and push each other forward. Why do we isn't that right? Unquestionably not on the grounds that it's simple or it makes us rich, yet rather we need to have any kind of effect. Much obliged to YOU to the majority of the tutors that help us to remember what's genuinely critical in life."

Whitt shared his voyage through growth openly on his Facebook page and was resolved to win his battle. He imparted considerations about his retirement to his previous associates "To all my educator companions, make the most of your profession, it passes by rapidly. I will be on the golf course!!!!" He was a steadfast Pittsburgh Steeler fan and delighted in the difficulties they confronted making a beeline for playoff the recent years. He appeared to love wears as much as history and that appears to be fitting. He would have an excessive amount of fun with the talking heads on governmental issues frequently making remarks about the most recent news.

Goodbye Mr. Whitt, you touched the lives of incalculable understudies and made them consider the past, the present and the future where they will end up being the pioneers of our group. It is the commitment to supporting both understudy, pre-benefit educators and collaborators that makes an instructor incredible and Jeff demonstrated this all through his vocation.

A grant subsidize has been set up at Security National Bank Enon Branch for gifts in memory of Jeff.
