Keighran in national cricket spotlight

Brilliant Square adolescent Zane Keighran makes another stride in his cricket advancement this week when he plays for the Cricket Australia under-16 squad at the national under-17 titles.

Keighran is one of three Victorians in the 13-man Australian squad for the titles in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

Keighran, 15, earned determination after some champion exhibitions finally summer's national 15-and-under jubilee.

The right-hand batsman has embraced an overwhelming preparing load lately to plan for the festival.

"I'm making a beeline for Melbourne a few days seven days for preparing,'' Keighran said.

"There's scope of under-19, under-17 and under-15 players who are partaking in a particular batting program.

"(Previous Victorian mentor) Greg Shipperd runs the preparation with (Cricket Victoria foundation mentor) Jarrod Loughman.

"The preparation has been awesome. Greg Shipperd has helped me a considerable measure with my strategy. We additionally chip away at match situations which has been a major offer assistance.

"It's an incredible open door."

Keighran will bat in the center request for the Cricket Australia squad.

"We don't have any acquaintance with each other that well, however we have a three-day preparing camp together before the titles begin which will help,'' Keighran said.

One of Keighran's colleagues will be MacKenize Harvey, the nephew of previous Australian and Victorian all-rounder Ian Harvey.

"We trust this competition will help quick track the advancement of these players to empower them the most obvious opportunity with regards to getting to be distinctly future tip top cricketers.

"A year ago was the first run through a CA XI contended in the Under-17 titles. The side won four matches, achieving the semi-finals, and there were various remarkable individual exhibitions which was truly satisfying to see.

Keighran's abilities don't quite recently rest with cricket. He had a strong season with Golden Square under-18s in the BFNL and was compensated with two diversions for the Bendigo Pioneers at TAC Cup level.

"The cricket mentors in Melbourne urge me to play footy,'' Keighran said.

"They're upbeat for me to play the same number of games as I need at this stage."

Head Cricket clubs Melbourne and Carlton are pursuing Keighran, yet for the present the adolescent will cushion up for Golden Square in the BDCA first XI this mid year.

In January, he'll join the Cricket Australia under-16 group for a visit to Dubai where they'll confront the Pakistan under-16 squad.
