D.C. police report arrest of person of interest in fatal shooting of teenager

D.C. police, hours in the wake of declaring a break in the examination of a week ago's lethal shooting of a 16-year-old young lady, reported the capture of a man seen on observation video discharging a weapon close where she was struck.

The man, distinguished as Saeve Evans, 30, was captured after a news meeting in which police named him and reported what they said was noteworthy new data in the deadly shooting of Breyona McMillian.

"He has been captured," Interim D.C. police boss Peter ­Newsham said of Evans Tuesday night. Subtle elements of the capture were not instantly clear.

Powers had issued a capture warrant for Evans. They accused him of unlawful ownership of a gun, discharged his photo and posted a $10,000 remunerate for data prompting to his capture and conviction. His last known address was in Southeast Washington.

Police said they don't know whether Evans discharged the shots that struck Breyona at the Potomac Gardens lodging improvement late Friday morning, and he is not charged in her demise. The young person was executed before her flat in the 1200 square of I Street SE, close Capitol Hill and the Navy Yard. Investigators don't think she was ­targeted.

At a news meeting with the chairman, Newsham made an energetic supplication, talking in a roundabout way to the suspect.

"In the event that he is listening and he has any soul or any human fairness, we ask that he turn himself in and assume liability for his activities," Newsham said. He included that surrendering would "convey conclusion to Breyona's family and the Potomac Gardens people group that has been shaken by this."

Regardless of the possibility that Evans is not in charge of Breyona's shooting, Newsham said, analysts "are certain that Mr. Evans has extra insights with respect to the murder, and he would be instrumental in shutting it."

Breyona, known as Bre, was shot in a patio of the loft complex days in the wake of returning home from a life experience school in Iowa.
