Fayetteville couple accused in prostitution operation

A Fayetteville man and his better half were captured Friday after lawmen got a Crimestoppers tip recently that the two were maintaining a prostitution business at their home, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said.

Joseph Michael Byrd Jr., 36, and Crystal Sage Seegars, 36, both of the 3000 square of Spain Drive, were captured at their living arrangement, said Sgt. Sean Swain, a Sheriff's Office representative.

The living arrangement is in a trailer stop off Camden Road close Hope Mills.

Byrd is accused of advancing prostitution by propelling, a capture warrant said. Seegars is accused of two crimes - requesting for prostitution and keeping up a structure for prostitution.

Specialists discovered that Byrd had set advertisements on Backpage.com, a web publicizing administration, offering Seegars' administrations, Swain said.

Byrd was utilizing the home as a place to advance prostitution, a warrant said.

At the point when lawmen went to the home, Byrd was in the road, offering Seegars' administrations, a court record said.

Seegars requested a covert representative by offering to engage in sexual relations with him for 30 minutes, charging $80, a warrant said.

Byrd likewise was presented with an exceptional warrant, issued Dec. 10, for crime ambush on a female. He is blamed for gagging Seegars and hitting her with an end table.

Safeguard was set at $10,000 for Byrd and $2,000 for Seegars.
