A commemorative plaque to Ballochmyle Hospital and Burns' bonnie lass has been unveiled in Mauchline

BALLOCHMYLE Hospital has been remembered with a cairn and plaque for the part it played in treating warriors harmed amid the second world war.

The inhabitants of Ballochmyle Estate and the Mauchline Burns Club joined to honor the work of the healing facility and Burns' bonnie girl.

The cairn and plaque were revealed on Wednesday October 19.

Sir Kenneth Calman revealed the memorial a cairn and plaque to stamp the work of the healing facility in both war and peace time.

As a wartime focus it treated administration work force from different battlefields including the D Day arrivals.

It was universally acclaimed for the plastic surgery unit managing both Scottish and London rush casualties.

The plaque in memory of Wilhelmina Alexander, the bonnie girl of Ballochmyle, was suitably disclosed by Lady Hagart-Alexander, spouse of the late Sir Claud Alexander, an immediate relative of Wilhelmina's sibling.

Around 130 individuals turned up on an eminently sunny day for the revealing including previous specialists and medical caretakers at the healing facility. They then went to Ballochmyle Golf Club for tea and espresso.
