Hopewell Optimist Club raises $5,000 to support young cancer patients

HOPEWELL — The Optimist Club Of Hopewell as of late gave $5,000 to the Childhood Cancer Fund.

The assets were raised by holding a 5K race in Hopewell that raised $3,000 and was led by Scott Poitras and Chuck Steininger; another $2,000 was brought up by Childhood Cancer canisters set in organizations in Hopewell and from gifts by Optimist Club individuals.

"More beyond words tumor then some other infection today, and the effect the malady has on youngsters and their families can wreck," said Mike Jones, Club president. "With these projects, we would like to help the families in our group that are battling this infection."

An announcement discharged by the Hopewell Optimist Club peruses, "Tumor is the main infection killing youngsters today, taking a larger number of lives than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and AIDS joined. Every year around 10,000 children are determined to have malignancy in North America alone, 3,000 of whom will kick the bucket accordingly.
