Adriaan Strauss undergoes back surgery

South Africa chief Adriaan Strauss experienced back surgery on Thursday and like Springbok winger Ruan Combrinck will miss the begin of one year from now's Super Rugby rivalry.

Strauss came back from South Africa's disillusioning November voyage through Europe with a squeezed nerve in his lower back and was prescribed an operation to settle it.

The 31-year-old hooker is presently expected back in real life for the Bulls in March, authorities said on Friday.

Strauss reported his retirement from worldwide rugby following a year as commander in which South Africa lost eight of 12 Tests this year however has focused on playing for the Bulls for a long time to come.

Combrinck, 26, broke a shoulder joint playing for South Africa against Wales in Cardiff last Saturday and experienced surgery on Wednesday.

He will be out for around four months, an announcement from the Lions rugby establishment.
