Brooklyn comedian caught in crossfire of New Jersey nightclub shooting

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. — Toni Byrd was just a couple of minutes into her high quality routine at Sports in the City Lounge on North thirteenth Street Friday night when projectiles started flying.

Her companion was recording her follow up on a PDA, when the shooting began.

"I was discussing menopause. What's more, being a lesbian with menopause," she told PIX11.

However, the jokes and the chuckling swung to shouts. She evaluated around 20 shots were discharged. The windows inside the club were smashed and five individuals were hit.

"I was appropriate in the blend of the crossfire," she related. "There was smoke noticeable all around from the discharges."

Bloomfield Police were back at the scene Monday, alongside firefighters. They put bolts on the entryways. The dividers and windows are scar set apart with shot gaps. Smashed glass is everywhere throughout the ground.

Byrd said there was no battle inside the club and that all the gunfire originated from outside. Nobody was murdered in the shooting.

"I trust the general population who got shot, that they OK," she said. "I'm a humorist. I'm over here bringing giggling and happiness, attempting to lift people groups spirits up. Furthermore, you come and shoot?"

"They recently shot that place up, man. Whoever did it had no respect for whoever was in there."

The examination is as yet progressing. No captures have been made.
