All the more All-American respects for Rams' Hights

Shepherd junior hostile lineman Lavonte Hights was named to the 2016 Associated Press Little All-America group Friday.

Hights, who prior in the week accumulated first-group D2CCA All-American respects, was a third-group choice.

Hights keyed a Shepherd hostile line as a three-year starter at right handle. His play was instrumental in helping the Shepherd offense rank 6th broadly in passing offense (312.9), eighth in passing effectiveness (168.1) and nineteenth in scoring offense (38.6).

The Little All-America group respects players from NCAA divisions II and III and the NAIA.

Ziemba completes seventh in Harlon Hill balloting

FLORENCE, Ala. — Shepherd senior quarterback Jeff Ziemba completed seventh in the 2016 Harlon Hill Trophy balloting as the NCAA Division II College Football Player of the Year. Quarterback Justin Dvorak of Colorado School of Mines guaranteed the honor.

Ziemba, who set seventh for the second back to back year, finished of 251 of 385 goes for 3,627 yards and 32 touchdowns for the Rams this season. He finished 65.2 percent of his passes and had a 168.12 passing-proficiency rating.
